At Longspee Academy Secondary, we start the day each day with Breakfast Club and the opportunity for every student to start school positively; reconnecting with others, focusing on key skills, and preparing for a learning focused day. Students can choose from a selection of cereals or toast, alongside other food that may have been prepared by peers in the kitchen. Within their Tutor Groups this Skills focus enables Students to understand, review and make progress within their individual areas of learning — their primary areas for development taken from their EHCP or any other agreed areas of need.

Please see an example of our school day below:

Each student has an opportunity to engage in a range of learning opportunities focusing upon English, Maths and Science (Core), alongside studies related to Character, Culture and Careers throughout the week. Reading skills and comprehension development is a key aspect of the curriculum, with regular opportunities for Reading across a range of contexts (and Reading Interventions, for those who have gaps in their abilities) as part of the regular learning diet.

Students at Longspee Secondary will have the opportunity to study curriculum areas within a range of qualification levels, including Functional Skills, GCSEs, and Vocational Courses – to help them progress towards a successful adult life.
